Signup Information:
1.) Select your service plan
    A.) The first step in signing up is finding the right service plan for you. To see the feature list and more information about each plan, please visit the Service Plan page. Once you've determined this go to the Signup page, and select your plan using the provided radio buttons.

    B.) Before moving on please read the Terms and Conditions, and click on the Terms and Conditions checkbox.

    C.) Now simply click next to move to the selection review page. You can see as sample of each of these items below in figure 1

2.) Enter Payment Information:
    A.) From the review page click on the "PayPal click here to pay button". You will be directed to a secure PayPal payment page. Here you can verify the amount is correct for the service plan you selected and the additional one time setup fee.

    B.) If you already have a PayPal account, simply login and press the "Pay" button, otherwise you will need to fill out the very short payment information page, and then press the "Pay". As Shown in Figure 2.

    C.) You will be redirected back to Direct Phone Survey, where you will see information on receiving your new account information.

Creating A New Survey:
1.) Logging In
    A.) Open the email you received after signing up. This email will contain your new account username, and password. Simply enter this information on the login section of the homepage or click the "Login" link at the top of the home page.

    B.) If you did not receive an email after signing up please call our support line at, 1-866-887-0020.


1.) Adding a Survey
    A.) Now that you've logged in for the first time, you will see the Survey List page with no surveys listed. This is shown in figure 3.

    B.) To create a new survey, click the "New" button in the top toolbar, this will bring up a blank survey as in figure 4.

    C.) Fill in the Title, Name information, and assign your new Toll Free number. A Toll Free number can only be assigned to one survey. Upon creating a second survey you will need to Unassign the number in the first and then assign it to the new second survey. If you would like multiple Toll Free numbers please call our sales line at, 1-866-887-0020 and we can assist you in ordering those.

    D.) It is recommended that you press the "Save" button in the top toolbar at this time, before moving on. As you will notice all Prompt File options are disabled. This is because a survey must be created before recordings can be uploaded to it. This is for the Intro and Exit Prompts as well as the Prompts per each question. If you choose not to save at this time you can upload them once you have saved the survey.

    E.) To Select your "Intro Prompt File" and "Exit Prompt File" click the associated "Browse" button, and find the WAV file you would like to upload. These files must use the WAV Format with these attributes 8.0Khz, 8 bit, Mono. You will have unusual results if you do not use these settings. After saving you will see a "Listen" link appear next to the label of each Prompt File option. Simply click this link to hear the file you have uploaded.

    Note: For verifying responses or noting invalid entries your survey will be using our recordings done with a professional voice talent. There are too many recordings that must be associated for it to be practical for you to record them using the phone management or to upload them. If you would like all of your prompts to match our voice talent or another voice talent, please call us at 1-866-887-0020.

    F.) To start adding questions press the "Add Question" button at the bottom of the page. You will see a blank question dialog box that comes up, as in Figure 5.

    G.) Fill in the Question Name and Question Text, While neither of these will actually have any effect on what your customer hears when calling your survey. They are used for labeling in your reports. So it is still important to enter this information.

    H.) Select one of the "Verify" options of yes or no. Selecting Yes will result in the caller being asked if they are satisfied with their response, and letting them verify their response. Selecting No will move straight on to the next question.

    I.) Selecting the prompt file is exactly like selecting the Intro and Exit Prompt files. They will be uploaded upon clicking the "OK" button. Note: This option is only available after the first time the survey has been saved, as mentioned above.

    J.) As shown above in Figure 5, there are 4 question types to choose from. Each type will show the options that are associated upon selecting them. These Types are,
  • Voice - This question type will record your customers answer to the question. And this response will be available immediately after they are finished online for you to listen.
  • Number - This question type allows your customer to enter a quantity, that fits within a minimum and maximum that you set for the question.
  • Digits - This question type is for requesting phone numbers, or other codes that are digits but are not quantities, as in the number question type.
  • Digit Map - This type is for assigning values to a single digit. For example, Press 1 if you own a Truck, Press 2 if you own a Car, Press 3 if you own a SUV.

  • K.) While the first three types are self explanatory we will further explain the assigning digits and values for the Digit Map question type.
    Select the Digit Map question type, and you will see the digit map options appear in the lower section of the question dialog box, as in figure 6.

    To add a selection press the "New" button, it is the left button below the "Map Value" text box. This will clear the values in the "Map Key" and "Map Value" Text Boxes. Now enter the digit you would like to assign in "Map Key". Second enter the appropriate value in "Map Value". Then press the "Save" button, it is the middle button below the "Map value" text box.

    You will see your new option appear in the "Digit Map" list box. To change an option simply click the item you want changed and update the "Map Value" and press the "Save" button. To remove an option click the item you want removed and press the "Delete" button, it is the right button below the "Map Value" text box. You will notice the item is removed in the "Digit Map" list box.

    L.) After all questions have been added, you must press the "Save" button in the top toolbar for these new questions to be saved. If you do not press save, all additions or changes will be lost.

    M.) To Edit your survey after saving, press the "Edit" button in the top toolbar and you will be able to edit the information in each of the controls. Otherwise everything will remain disabled. After editing you must press the "Save" button or any changes will be lost.

Viewing Reports and Survey Responses:
1.) Viewing Reports
    A.) To view the survey reports, select the survey you are interested in from the Survey List. Then Click on the "Reports" tab, located below the toolbar to the right. You will see the report criteria on the left side of this page, shown in figure 7.

    B.) There are two report options. The Summary Report Type will show you the total surveys that have been completed with in the specified date range. This report will also show the percentages of each response for the digit map questions, shown in figure 8.

    C.) The Detail Report Type will show you the detail of each response entered for all the surveys taken within the specified date range. For the "Voice" questions where the customer will speak their response, you can listen to those responses, by click the "Listen" link on the respective line of the report. An example of this report is shown in figure 9.

Direct Phone Survey Billing:
1.) Receiving Your Bill
    A.) You will receive an email each month from Direct Phone Survey. This email will show in detail your normal per month charge based on the plan you chose when signing up, and any additional minutes that may have been used upon going over the minutes included in the chosen plan.

    This invoice will be for the current months plan fee, and the previous months additional minute charges that were assessed.
